Gallo Glass in Modesto, California, continuously works on improving quality and productivity
with the aid of Lean and Six Sigma tools (LSS).
The new XPAR Vision approach is a perfect fit for this new strategy. This approach includes IR-D systems, SQL based information systems and experienced consultants dedicated to implementing and embedding the systems extremely effectively.
Since August 2008, with the help of XPAR Vision consultants, Gallo Glass has installed and implemented 3 IR-D systems, and specific improvement projects have been undertaken.
Brent Volk, Product Engineer at Gallo Glass has this to say: “Every IR-D system tells us what the level of variation per IS machine is, and, if necessary, our operators can correct this accordingly. Defects are rejected at the hot end which provides a better cold end flow with fewer disturbances. The data gathered by the systems provide us with enough information to ascertain whether any improvements can be made. XPAR’s ware handling tool is especially important to this.”
As anticipated the use of real time information provided by the XPAR systems improves the relation and interaction between the hot end, maintenance, quality and cold end. The XPAR Vision implementation approach and the philosophy of LSS, Gallo Glass has thus raised quality to a higher level.
